DONALD'S CITY HALL PRIORITIES

• Balance the budget at City Hall and get "Back to Basics", spending tax payer dollars on those services and programs that are most important to residents.

• Improve our local economy through the attraction and retention of employment opportunities with public partnerships supporting the corporate community.

• Ensure that neighborhood services such as community center programs for our youth and seniors, library funding, homework centers, crossing guards, and street pavement management are not cut to unacceptable levels.

I would like to thank all my wonderful supporters, friends, family and all those who have helped me get to this point. I will work hard every day to make all of you and the City of San Jose proud,
as your Councilmember-elect!
- Donald Rocha

Dear Neighbor,

I was born and raised here in San Jose and it has been my home for almost 42 years.  My family and I have lived in Cambrian for over 15 years now, raising our three children and making a home for our children.  As a San Jose native son, I have a unique perspective on the history of our city and the beautiful neighborhoods here in our community. I believe that San Jose is the best city in California and I am committed to preserving and enhancing the unique character of our neighborhoods and the place we call home.

I am running for the San Jose City Council District 9 seat to continue to protect our quality of life, improve our economy and create jobs, and enhance the services delivered to our Cambrian and West San Jose neighborhoods.  Vice Mayor Judy Chirco is retiring due to term limits and I believe my skills and experience will allow me to represent our neighborhoods and be your advocate at City Hall.

I have been involved in our community because I care about my family and the City of San Jose.  I was elected to the Cambrian School Board because I want to make sure that our neighborhood public schools are providing the best education possible.

I coach youth sports because I enjoy teaching children and young adult’s teamwork, the value of a healthy lifestyle, and to provide a positive experience for them to participate in. I am grateful to those people who have supported me in my work and efforts, and I could not have done it without those friends and family members.

I would be honored to have your support. Please feel free to contact me by email to discuss or share the issues that matter most to you at - donaldrocha2010@hotmail.com or you can call me directly at (408) 355-4196, Thank you.

Sincerely,
Donald Rocha

MERCURY NEWS ENDORSES ROCHA

Mercury News editorial: Rocha [is] the best choice
October 7, 2010

Donald Rocha is not a typical politician…He reminds us of the current Cambrian council member, Judy Chirco — another quiet person who over two terms became known for thoughtfulness and independence. Chirco believes Rocha has the same potential. We do, too. Raising a family in the district, Rocha understands its concerns…He says superficial reactions to issues can ultimately prove wrong, and he will work for deeper understanding. [Rocha] will, we believe, be a solid vote for fiscal responsibility.
